KEY HIGHLIGHTS:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the conventional visual acuity (VA) and changes therein over time in older drivers.
This was a cross-sectional study of 124 randomly selected subjects.
There was correlation between age and visual acuity (P<0.05) for young drivers.
Visual acuity scores less than 0.7 was significantly higher in the older drivers than in the younger drivers.
The Trail Making Test B scores were significantly higher in the older group than in the younger and middle-aged groups.
The study shows that older drivers might experience decreased VA and increased frequency of VA loss while driving.
