China has the largest population of those who suffer from vision defects in the world.
An estimated 610 million to 650 million people in China has either presbyopia or myopia.
China’s optical industry has encountered several problems, and a long-term plan should be established that specifies developmental goals, production and service standards, and financial and professional structures.
As China begins to transform its optical industry, three opportunities should be leveraged: increased demand for vision care and mergers, as well as stronger support in terms of government policy.
